How to Vote

The Village of Cold Spring’s elections are managed by the Putnam County Board of Elections.

The early voting period is October 23rd to October 30th.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 2nd. Polls are open from 6:00am to 9:00pm.

Register to Vote

You can register in person at the Board of Elections by Friday, October 8th, or postmark an application by that day.

  2. Grab a voter registration card from Village Hall, the post office, or any public library, complete, return.

Vote Early

The early voting location for the western side of Putnam County, including the Village of Cold Spring, is the North Highlands Firehouse, located at 504 Fishkill Road, near the Little League fields and Philipstown Plaza. If you cast a ballot during early voting, you cannot vote on Election Day itself.

Vote on Election Day

The regular polling place for the Village of Cold Spring is at the Methodist Church, 216 Main St at the Corner of Orchard Street.

Polls are open from 6:00am to 9:00pm.

Absentee Voting

You may vote absentee if you will be:

1.   Absent from your county or on Election Day.

2.  Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability (temporary illness includes being unable to appear due to risk of contracting or spreading a communicable disease like COVID-19).

3.  Unable to appear because you are the primary care giver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled.

4.  A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.

5.   Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

Absentee voting is a two-step process:

(1)   Request an absentee ballot via the Putnam County Board of Elections online portal: https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/
**online and by-mail requests must be received by Monday October 18th**
**in-person requests must be made at the Board of Elections by 5pm Monday, Nov 2nd**

(2)   When you receive your ballot, complete it, seal in the envelope and sign as instructed.

(3)   Return the completed ballot to:
